I dropped out of school in Primary Three and later joined a six-month tailoring programme. Even after that, I struggled because I hadn’t learned enough to run a proper business.
I had a sewing machine but remained unemployed. I had to sell bananas to raise money for additional training so I could improve my skills.
Eventually, I started sewing and repairing clothes, but my business declined because I lacked knowledge in budgeting, record-keeping, and customer care.
After attending the BEST training by Enterprise Uganda, everything changed.
Before the training, I was making between UGX 15,000 and 20,000 per day. Now I make about UGX 50,000 daily. My capital has increased from UGX 600,000 to UGX 1,000,000.
I learned how to keep records, manage money, and treat customers well. I even started making courtesy calls to regain lost clients. Today, I also train other women for a fee, and I have added fruit selling to my business. The knowledge I gained completely changed how I run my business.
